Monday, November 25 2002 14:20 Hrs (IST)

Hyderabad: Naxalites of the banned People's War Group (PWG) blasted two culverts and set ablaze a state-owned Road Transport Corporation (RTC) bus in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh where "bandh" called by the ultras is being observed on November 25.

The ultras blew up two culverts - one near Bommerirajupalli of Eapoor mandal and another between Uppalpadu and Mantadoddi villages since November 24 night, police said.

According to reports reaching here, the naxals also set afire a RTC bus near Vendurti.

The PWG has given a "Guntur bandh" call to protest against Chandrajupalem encounter with police in which three of its colleagues including a commander of central palnad guerilla squad Eashwar alias Madhav were killed on November 12.

Ever since the November 12 encounter, the naxals are targetting government properties to express their anger. So far they have blasted a MRO office at Karampudi, a railway station at Tummalacheruvu, a telephone exchange at Veerapuram and a forest guest house at Mellavagu.
