Chennai: Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) general secretary and former Tamil Nadu
minister K Anbazhagan described the raids in his house and others in several parts
of the state as 'political vendetta'.
The sleuths of Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption (DVAC) had raided houses
of three former ministers and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leaders including
Anbazhakan on November 28.
"The raids in my houses are based on baseless allegations. I will fight the case in
the court," Anbazhakan told reporters after the DVAC men finished the raids. "It had
become the practice of AIADMK government to raid the houses of senior DMK leaders
on 'false allegations'," he said.
While the DVAC officials had taken note of television sets, refrigerators and air-
conditioners in both the houses, they did not seize any documents, he added.
The DVAC had also raided the houses of Kannan, a retired education department
official in the city and J Sudarsanam, principal of a teachers training institute at
Madurai. This was in connection with a case on 'irregularities in the allotment of
seats of teachers training institutues', when Anbazhagan was education minister in
the DMK government from 1996 to 2001.
