Kolkata: The United States is expeditiously processing India's request for border
sensors and equipment for its Special Forces, American ambassador Robert Blackwill
said on November 27.
The Bush administration has approved the sale of General Electric engines and
advanced avionics for India's indigenous light combat aircraft, he said.
"The Pentagon is expeditiously processing the Indian Army's request for significant
Special Forces equipment and border sensors," Blackwill said.
India, he said, is leasing several additional US fire-finding/ weapon-locating
radars, in addition to those contracted for purchase and spares for Sea King
helicopters were on a fast track for delivery.
The Ambassador said US President George W Bush waived the 1998 sanctions on India
and drastically cut down the 'Entity List' which barred Americans from doing
business with some Indian companies from over 150 entities to less than 20 as part
of efforts to transform India-US relations.
