New Delhi: Intelligence inputs indicate a nexus between al-Qaida and Pakistan's
Inter Services Intelligence (ISI), and the country has raised the issue several
times at international levels, Lok Sabha was told on December 3.
The issue of terrorism sponsored by ISI and other militant organisations backed by
it has been raised at various multilateral fora for eliciting support to curb the
menace, Minister of State for Home Vidyasagar Rao said in a written
reply.
Diplomatic initiatives have also been taken by forming joint working groups with a
number of countries, he said.
Government is not considering autonomy of operations to the Central para-military
forces deployed in Jammu and Kashmir, Rao said, adding they would continue to
function under the Unified Headquarters at Srinagar and Jammu chaired by the Chief
Minister.
No communication from any of the state governments or political parties has been
received so far to review the provisions of the Prevention of Terrorism Act, 2003,
Rao said.
The proposal for earmarking, training, equipping and positioning four companies of
Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) for specialised intervention in conjunction
with scientists and technicians in the event of nuclear, biological and chemical-
related disaster has been initiated, Minister of State for Home I D Swami
said.
