Srinagar: Eleven people, including five ultras, were killed and six securitymen
injured in separate incidents in Jammu and Kashmir, where militants set off three
improvised explosive devices and targeted a security camp since December 2 night, a
police spokesman said on December 3.
Two Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militants were killed in an encounter with an Army search
party at Lachipora village of Kulgam in Anantnag district of South Kashmir on
December 2 night. Two AK rifles, three grenades and some ammunition were recovered
from them, he said.
Two more militants were killed at Charwari-Tarana of Banihal area of Doda district
on December 2 night, the spokesman said, adding security forces killed another LeT
militant Mansoor Ahmad alias Abu Furgan during search operations at Sadhu-Ganga in
border district of Kupwara on December 3. Two securitymen were also injured in the
operation.
Ultras killed two persons identified as Nazir Hussain and Mohammad Rashid by
slitting their throats at Menyalan village in Rajouri district, the spokesman
said.
He said a special police officer who was shot and injured by militants on December 2
night, succumbed to his injuries on December 3.
Two more persons were killed by unidentified gunmen in their houses at Arin-
Bandipora in Baramulla and Amrohi-Karnah in Kupwara respectively, the spokesman
said.
He said a mentally deranged person was shot dead by security personnel when he tried
to enter their camp at Badgam district.
Mistaking the person as a militant of suicide squad, security personnel fired
several rounds at him when he ignored their warnings and tried to enter the camp,
the spokesman added.
