Srinagar: Eleven people, including five ultras, were killed and six securitymen injured in separate incidents in Jammu and Kashmir, where militants set off three improvised explosive devices and targeted a security camp since December 2 night, a police spokesman said on December 3.

Two Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militants were killed in an encounter with an Army search party at Lachipora village of Kulgam in Anantnag district of South Kashmir on December 2 night. Two AK rifles, three grenades and some ammunition were recovered from them, he said.

Two more militants were killed at Charwari-Tarana of Banihal area of Doda district on December 2 night, the spokesman said, adding security forces killed another LeT militant Mansoor Ahmad alias Abu Furgan during search operations at Sadhu-Ganga in border district of Kupwara on December 3. Two securitymen were also injured in the operation.

Ultras killed two persons identified as Nazir Hussain and Mohammad Rashid by slitting their throats at Menyalan village in Rajouri district, the spokesman said.

He said a special police officer who was shot and injured by militants on December 2 night, succumbed to his injuries on December 3.

Two more persons were killed by unidentified gunmen in their houses at Arin- Bandipora in Baramulla and Amrohi-Karnah in Kupwara respectively, the spokesman said.

He said a mentally deranged person was shot dead by security personnel when he tried to enter their camp at Badgam district.

Mistaking the person as a militant of suicide squad, security personnel fired several rounds at him when he ignored their warnings and tried to enter the camp, the spokesman added.
