Mumbai: A team of the National Security Guards (NSG) from New Delhi arrived in
Mumbai to examine the nature of explosive used in the bomb blast in a bus at
Ghatkopar in northeast Mumbai on December 2, which claimed two lives and injured 31
others.
The team, which rushed to Ghatkopar, inspected the blast site to trace the kind of
explosive used. The team would later visit SEEPZ at Andheri, where an explosive was
found on December 2, police sources said.
The adjacent buildings at SEEPZ were evacuated early on December 3 even as the fire
brigade personnel threw a cordon around the area.
Meanwhile, security has been stepped up all over the state with hundreds of police
personnel being posted at sensitive zones in Mumbai.
Sniffer dogs were also pressed into service at various police stations and public
places to detect presence of explosives, police sources said.
At various railway stations in Mumbai, regular announcements warning passengers of
unclaimed bags were issued. The police also conducted random checks of luggage
carried by passengers.
