'PM not to attend meet till Pak stops terror'
Tuesday, December 3 2002 12:43 Hrs (IST)

Vadodara: Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Sushma Swaraj said Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee would not attend the South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (SAARC) summit in Pakistan till it stops cross border terrorism.

Talking to reporters, the Minister said conceding India's demand for Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status is not enough for India to attend the proposed summit as it was a part of trade related agreements between the two countries and India has already granted MFN status to Pakistan.

Pakistan has been helping and abetting cross-border terrorism and many countries in the world have realised Pakistan's role in promoting terrorism, she said.

In that connection the outcome of Gujarat Assembly polls will have a significant bearing on fight against terrorism, she added.
