TN Governor gives assent to anti-conversion Bill
Tuesday, December 3 2002 19:52 Hrs (IST)

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Governor P S Ramamohan Rao has given his assent to the controversial Bill banning forcible religious conversions, passed by the Tamil Nadu Assembly recently.

The Law came into force from December 3 with the government notifying it in the gazette.

Minority organisations had protested against the Bill and had asked the Governor not to give his assent, as they apprehended that it might be misused.
