Ahmedabad: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on December 6 called for
Hindu-Muslim unity in the country but at the same time said it was imperative for
Muslims to decide whether they accept India as their motherland or wish to carve out
another homeland.
"Muslims in India must decide whether they want to dance to the neighbouring
country's tunes or have brotherly relations with people here," international working
president of VHP Ashok Singhal told reporters.
Singhal said, "Muslims in India are at crossroads. And it is from here that they
have to decide with whom they want to stay in harmony."
"Both Hindus and Muslims are sons of Bharat Mata, but how is brotherhood possible by
mere talk of fraternity without accepting the country as their motherland and
demanding a separate homeland?" he asked.
