Ahmedabad: Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani and Gujarat caretaker Chief Minister
Narendra Modi on December 7 visited the Akshardham temple in Gandhinagar, where two
suspected Leshkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorists gunned down 31worshippers on September 24.
Advani, who also paid his respects to Pramukh Swami of the Swaminarayan sect, told
reporters, "It was auspicious that the visit coincided with the birthday of 'a
genuine saint' like Pramukh Swami."
Temple spokesman Nishit Acharya said, "Advaniji knew that Pramukh Swami would
perform puja here and therefore decided to come and take his blessings."
Advani and Modi spent half an hour at the temple.
The Deputy Prime Minister also visited the Sterling Hospital to enquire about the
health of Viswa Hindu Parishad Gujarat unit general secretary Jaideep Patel, who was
shot by two motorcycle gunmen on December 3.
According to hospital sources, Advani talked to Patel and also sought details about
the attack.
