New Delhi: After low-profile political Iftar parties during Ramzan this year, Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee is hosting an Id Milan at his residence on December 8.

For some reason or other, prominent political personalities, including Vajpayee, President A P J Adbul Kalam and Leader of the Opposition Sonia Gandhi, did not host Iftar parties during the fasting period.

While Kalam said he would rather spend the money for Iftar on less privileged children, Gandhi had dropped plans citing this year's communal violence in Gujarat.

There was no official reason given for Vajpayee not hosting Iftar, but reports had it that bad drought in various parts of the country deterred him.
