Srinagar: Militants launched a grenade attack on a security forces camp in a stadium in Srinagar injuring eight Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel on December 8 evening, official sources said.

Ultras fired four rifle grenades in quick succession at the CRPF camp in the Bakshi stadium around 18:00 hours (IST), which exploded with big bang injuring eight CRPF personnel including three sub-inspectors, they said.

Condition of two sub-inspectors and a head constable was serious, the sources said.

CRPF personnel retaliated the fire and intermittent gunshots could still be heard in the area, they said.

No militant outfit has, so far, claimed responsibility for the attack hours before the four-day unilateral truce announced by the Lashker-e-Toiba for the Id-ul-Fitr was to expire, they added.
