Advani hopes UAE will co-operate in Anees extradition
Monday, December 9 2002 14:28 Hrs (IST)

Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister L K Advani Ahmedabad: Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani on December 9 hoped the United Arab Emirates (UAE) authorities would co-operate with the Indian government in turning over the arrested mafia don Anees Ibrahim in the same manner as it did by deporting Aftab Ansari, the prime accused in the American Centre attack in Kolkata.

"I hope that the UAE government is going to extend all co-operation in extraditing Anees Ibrahim as it did in Aftab Ansari's case," Advani told reporters here while confirming the arrest of Anees Ibrahim in Dubai by the UAE authorities.

Aftab Ansari was deported from Dubai in February this year within weeks after the attack on the American Centre.

"The UAE government has arrested him Dubai," said Advani while stating that he is among those criminals for whom Interpol has issued a 'red corner notice'.

Indian authorities in Dubai are working out ways to get Anees extradited, Advani said, adding that he is the most wanted criminal in Maharashtra and the prime accused in the 1993 Mumbai blast case.
