Chamarajnagar (Karnataka): The mortal remains of Janata Dal – United (JD-U) leader H Nagappa were interred according to Lingayat rites in his hometown of Kamagere in Chamarajnagar district on December 9 evening.

Full state honours for the funeral, as announced by the state government, were missing as family of the slain leader and his supporters refused it, saying police presence should not be there, official sources said.

Minister for Animal Husbandry and Sugar M Mahadev, who was deputed by the government to represent it at the funeral, could not attend it as he was prevented from proceeding to Kamagere by angry mobs.
