Ahmedabad: Office records of the Income Tax department were gutted in a major fire
which broke out in the multi-storeyed New India Assurance Company building in the
busy commercial area of Ashram Road on December 10, police said.
However, no one was injured, police added. More than 20 fire extinguishers have been
pressed into service to control the flames that broke out at 9.30 am (IST), fire
brigade sources said adding that cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained.
Office furniture and record of Income Tax department were gutted in the fire, the
sources said. This was the second incident of fire in the same building in six
months, as earlier the fifth floor also housing Income Tax Department records was
gutted, reports said.
