Ahmedabad: Four persons, including the Congress candidate from Kadi Assembly constituency in Mehsana district of Gujarat, were injured following an alleged attack by a group of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) supporters on December 9, police said.

The candidate, Baldevji Thakore, in his first information report (FIR) has named nine supporters of BJP for attacking him with ‘dharia’ (a sharp edged weapon) and sticks when he was campaigning in a society building on Kadi highway, police said on December 10. However, no arrests have been made so far, police added.

All the injured were admitted to civil hospital here and their condition was stated to be ‘stable’, police said. This was the second incident of attack in the past one week on Congress candidates campaigning for December 12 assembly polls. Earlier Salvi constituency candidate was also attacked by BJP workers, in similar manner, Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) sources said.
