Manipur ministry expanded, three inducted

Imphal: The 10-month old Secular Progressive Front (SPF) Ministry headed by Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh in Manipur was expanded with the induction of three ministers of state after dropping two Cabinet ministers.

With this, the number of council of ministers has gone upto 34 in the 60-member Assembly.

The Governor, Ved Marwah administered the oath of office and secrecy to new ministers,T Meinya (Democratic People's Party), K Ranjit and D K Korunthang (both Congress), at a simple function held at Raj Bhavan on December 10.

Chief minister, his Cabinet colleagues and several civil and security officials were present at the function.

Later, Chief Minister told reporters that two Cabinet ministers, Higher Education minister Yumkham Erabot and Social Welfare minister Vivek Raj, had been dropped before the swearing-in of the three ministers of state.
