Bangalore: The Nagappa hostage crisis would be debated during the Legislature
session beginning on December 23, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister D B
Chandregowda said on December 10.
Speaking to reporters, he said the Nagappa issue would be discussed on December 23
and 24 and the government would place before the House the details of the action it
took in meeting the hostage crisis.
Chief Minister S M Krishna had announced on December 9 the state Cabinet's decision
to convene the session in the wake of "insinuations and accusations" against the
government by the Opposition parties on the Nagappa kidnap drama.
Krishna has come under severe attack from Opposition parties following the tragic
end to the 106-day Nagappa hostage crisis and they have demanded that he quit office.
Chandregowda said the dates for the session were decided after his meeting with
Assembly Speaker M V Venkatappa and Legislative Council chairman B L Shankar.
He said the business advisory committee would decide the agenda for the rest of the
days other than December 23 and 24, which would be devoted to discussion on Nagappa
issue.
