Islamabad: Despite New Delhi's rejection that it was responsible for postponement of
the SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) Summit, Pakistan on
December 10 maintained that it put off the January meet because of "Indian
attitude".
"The Indian attitude has resulted in postponement of the meet for an indefinite
period," Information Minister Sheikh Rashid said after the first Cabinet meeting of
the Mir Zafarafullah Khan Jamali government.
Pakistan was expecting a positive response from Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari
Vajpayee but "regrettably" he refused, Rashid told reporters.
He, however, said that Pakistan hoped that the Indian government would ensure its
participation as and when a decision was taken to hold the summit in
Islamabad.
Replying to a question, Rashid also said that the Jamali government will fulfil
Pakistan's International commitments to fight against terrorism. "We will adhere to
our commitment
with the International community against terrorism."
