Bangalore: The Tamil Nadu police have recovered a body of a civilian in the forests near Kolathur on December 10, highly placed sources said in Bangalore.

The deceased is not a police personnel, the sources said, dismissing reports that the body was found in Chengadi forest area, where body of slain JD-U (Janata Dal-United) leader H Nagappa was spotted on December 8.

Sources said the recovery of the body was not connected to the incident involving Nagappa's killing.

It said the dead body was spotted near a check dam and Tamil Nadu police are investigating whether the deceased had committed suicide or it was a case of a murder.

Earlier, Karnataka Home Minister Mallikarjun Kharge dismissed as "rumours" reports that a dead body was found near Chengadi forests.

He said the STF (Special Task Force) men were asked to comb the area following reports that a body had been spotted near the area where Nagappa's dead body was found.
