Tuesday, December 10 2002 19:30 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: As part of continuing Indo-US military to military interaction, the visiting commander of the United States Pacific command Admiral Thomas Fargo on December 10 held wide ranging talks with top Indian officials and Services brass on security scenario in the sub-continent and on developments in the Gulf.

Fargo, one of top ranking US military officials, held talks with Foreign Secretary Kanwal Sibal and Defence Secretary Subir Dutta. He also called on External Affairs Minister Yashwant Sinha.

The US Admiral laid a wreath at Amar Jawan Jyoti and was given a guard of honour on the lush green lawns of South Block. He met the Vice Chief of the Naval Staff Vice Admiral John Desilva.

The visit of Fargo, the second one this year, assumes significance as after carrying out a number of joint Army, Navy and Air Force exercises, India and the United States are set to give their military to military interaction more content, depth and dimension.
