New Delhi: As part of continuing Indo-US military to military interaction, the
visiting commander of the United States Pacific command Admiral Thomas Fargo on
December 10 held wide ranging talks with top Indian officials and Services brass on
security scenario in the sub-continent and on developments in the Gulf.
Fargo, one of top ranking US military officials, held talks with Foreign Secretary
Kanwal Sibal and Defence Secretary Subir Dutta. He also called on External Affairs
Minister Yashwant Sinha.
The US Admiral laid a wreath at Amar Jawan Jyoti and was given a guard of honour on
the lush green lawns of South Block. He met the Vice Chief of the Naval Staff Vice
Admiral John Desilva.
The visit of Fargo, the second one this year, assumes significance as after carrying
out a number of joint Army, Navy and Air Force exercises, India and the United
States are set to give their military to military interaction more content, depth
and dimension.
