New Delhi: Claiming that the principle of secularism guiding India had resulted in
discrimination against Hindus, VHP (Vishwa Hindu Parishad) on December 10 demanded a
change in it as it dubbed as a "big fraud" the talk of Human Rights and ridiculed
those claiming to be fighting for protection of the rights.
VHP international president Ashok Singhal asserted that Human Rights could not be
"requested for" but "taken".
"Secularism is like anaesthesia which has put our governments to sleep while Islamist
forces are carrying out their operations and attacking us," he said addressing a
function organised by the Panun Kashmir Movement (PKM), an organisation of Kashmiri
Pandit migrants, in New Delhi on the occasion of World Human Rights Day.
"The principle of secularism in India has totally failed. Because of this Hindus are
being discriminated against," he said, adding, "its failure should be accepted and it
should be
changed, like a U-turn on socialism".
Asking Kashmiri Pandits not to expect anything from the current government, Singhal
said, "because of secularism, they will not say a word".
He attacked the "so-called" Human Rights activists, saying, "they are engaged in
protecting the rights of demons only and are not even distantly connected with
humans."
"A big fraud is being committed in the name of celebration of Human Rights day," he
said.
