Srinagar: At least 25 people were injured on December 11 in a grenade explosion triggered by militants near a bus stand in Pulwama district town of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said.

The militants had targeted a moving vehicle of security personnel but the grenade instead fell in an adjoining market causing splinter injuries to the pedestrians, they said.

The injured have been admitted to hospital where the condition of many of them was stated to be serious, police said.

Police and security forces immediately cordoned of the area and have launched a joint operation for the militants, they said.
