Fine Art to hold first auction in B'lore on Dec 12

Bangalore: Bowrings Fine Art Auctioneers will conduct its first ever auction entitled 'House Contents Sale' in Bangalore on December 12, according to an official press release. The auction is scheduled to be held at the Taj West End, Bangalore. This follows five successful auctions in Mumbai and Delhi.

The House Contents auction offers a great opportunity for the collector setting up a home with exquisite pieces of furniture and works of art at affordable prices, according to the organizers.

The auction will bring under the hammer a range of treasures and artifacts ranging from beds, sofas, a sedan chair, dressing tables, wardrobes, dining tables, side tables, desks, mirrors, umbrella stands and a Goan palanquin, the release said.

"Bowrings believes in bringing to its clients the best at international standards. This auction will also offer something for any art connoisseur. It also gives the opportunity for anyone to have their prized possessions valued for free by international experts," according to Martin Graham, managing director, Bowrings Fine Art Auctioneers.

The sale comprises collections of numerous owners that totals 227 items. The auction will also have smaller items to really large showpieces, keeping in mind different home environments. Amongst the pictures on offer are prints by Daniels, Tanjore and Mysore School paintings and oleographs by Ravi Varma, besides porcelain, silver plated items, glass and novelty items, according to the press release.

The company is also offering valuation of objects by its experts on December 11. This will provide prospective clients with the opportunity to bring in items and have them valued, wherein Bowrings will indicate the potential auction value, the release said.
