Kozhikode: Reconstruction of Babri Masjid on the same site was the only solution to
the problem created by 'fascist' forces 10 years ago, Indian National League (INL)
president, Ebrahim Sulaiman Sait, said on December 12.
"We can't allow the fascist forces to destroy peace anymore and it is time for
people of all religions to come together to fight the menace of fascism," Sait, who
is also the convenor of the All-India Muslim Personal Law Board, told
reporters.
Muslims were prepared to wait further for a final judicial verdict and the Babri
Masjid Committee, constituted by the Board, would abide by law and not resort to any
violent agitation for reconstruction of the Masjid, he said.
"Fundamentalists disturbing peace are only in minority and right-thinking Muslims
and Hindus still form the majority in the country striving for peace," Sait said,
adding the Board was pressing the Centre to ensure an early court judgement by
arranging a day-to-day hearing on the matter.
"The largescale state-sponsored genocide in Gujarat is only another phase of the
fascist agenda to destroy peace and it is unfortunate that some Viswa Hindu Parishad
(VHP) leaders have threatened that they will do a Gujarat in other parts of the
country if they are not permitted to construct the Ram Temple", he said.
To create awareness among the people on the urgent need for a solution to the decade
long dispute, the Board was organising a series of public meetings and seminars
throughout the country from December 6 to 23, he added.
