Bangalore: A three-member committee constituted by the Chief Justice of India would
hold its sittings in Mysore on December 14 and in Bangalore on December 15 as part
of its probe into alleged "Mysore sex scandal" linked with three state High Court
judges.
Anyone having knowledge or information or evidence regarding the alleged incident
may appear before the committee and furnish it, Karnataka High Court registrar
general (in-charge) N Ananda said in a press release.
The committee consists of justice C K Thakker, chief justice Bombay High Court,
justice J L Gupta, chief justice Kerala High Court and justice A K Patnaik, judge of
Orissa High Court.
Amid a growing controversy, the Chief Justice of India had constituted the committee
after receipt of the second report from the chief justice of Karnataka High Court on
the alleged incident at a Mysore resort.
In another turn to the controversy, Karnataka High Court had last week observed that
prima facie contempt of court had been committed in publishing reports on the
alleged incident and ordered issue of emergent notices to 52 respondents, including
editors, reporters and printers of several publications which had carried the
reports.
A full bench had ordered issue of emergence notices to the respondents to show cause
why contempt proceedings should not be initiated against them and why they should
not be punished according to law.
