Ahmedabad: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on December 12 dismissed suggestions
that he could emerge as contender for the post of Prime Minister in the event of BJP
(Bharatiya Janata Party) winning a majority in the state Assembly polls.
"I had not been contender for even the Chief Minister-ship. I am a worker and do not
think of such things," he told reporters in Ahmedabad.
Asked whether he would play a role both in Gujarat as well as at the national level
after the polls, Modi said he never took decisions concerning himself but the party
decided on such issues.
"I am connected to the mission and not ambition", Modi said when asked about his
political ambition.
