New Delhi: Accusing Pakistan of taking advantage of the lack of consensus among
different countries in the war against terrorism, Vice-President Bhairon Singh
Shekhawat on December 12 urged the international community to speak in one voice on
the issue.
"All countries should unite and speak in one voice to teach a lesson to those
supporting terrorism. Unfortunately, some have sympathies towards such countries and
are not taking a direct stand, of which Pakistan is taking full advantage,"
Shekhawat said.
He was speaking at a function organised by All India Anti-Terrorist Front (AIATF) to
honour families of the martyrs who thwarted the terrorist strike on Parliament in
2001.
Shekhawat regretted that while India has exposed Pakistan's nefarious role, other
countries were not gathering sufficient courage.
Recalling Pakistan's defeat at India's hands thrice in direct war, he said, "If the
Pakistani rulers do not talk about Kashmir and against India, they will be killed
the next day."
Lauding Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee's decision to honour the remains of the
Kargil martyrs, he said, "It is equally essential that we send a message that the
nation will take care of the families of martyred soldiers."
Paying rich tributes to the personnel who died fighting terrorists on December 13
last year, he said had the terrorists succeeded in their mission, the nation's
honour would have been at stake.
