New Delhi: Delhi Police Commissioner R S Gupta on December 13 said terrorist-threat
to the capital has increased over past few months, particularly after the terrorist
attack on Ansal Plaza was foiled.
Delhi police is taking appropriate steps to tackle the situation, he told reporters
at a function to pay tributes to five city cops who laid down their lives while
preventing an attempt by five heavily armed terrorists to storm Parliament on
December 13, 2001.
"We do not have any specific intelligence reports, but our assessment of the
situation makes it necessary to make adequate security arrangements," he
said.
He said special security arrangements have been made in the capital in view of the
first anniversary of the attack on Parliament.
Security, particularly at religious and crowded places like markets and cinema
halls, has been stepped up to thwart any terrorist attempt to strike in the capital.
