Hyderabad: The Naxalites of the outlawed People's War Group (PWG) blew up a railway
engine in Nizamabad district and a telephone exchange in Guntur district on December
14 night, police said.
Both the incidents were of retaliatory nature in protest against the arrest and
encounter deaths of fellow ultras in November in Guntur district and
elsewhere.
At about 01:30 hours (IST) on December 15, armed Naxalites boarded a slow-moving
diesel engine in Sadashivnagar Mandal limits on Nizamabad-Secunderabad track and
asked the driver and helper to get down before blowing up the engine.
The railway traffic on the Nizamabad and Secunderabad section of SCR has been
affected and the railway authorities had pressed workers in removing the damaged
engine.
In another incident on December 14 night in Guntur district, Naxalites blasted a 200-
line telephone exchange building in protest against the arrest of Naxal activist
Kottaiah last month, police added.
