Vadodara: Indefinite curfew imposed in some of the localities of Raopura area in the
city has been lifted following improvement in the situation, police said.
"The curfew has been lifted from 5 am, but the security forces and police will
continue to patrol the trouble-torn area," senior police officials said.
One person was killed and 17 others injured, one of them in police firing, after
violence broke out during Assembly election victory marches by BJP
activists.
Rival groups clashed during the victory procession of BJP MLA Yogesh Patel in
sensitive Raopura locality of the city, prompting authorities to clamp an indefinite
curfew in the area.
Police had to fire to disengage the groups which indulged in heavy stone-pelting
after explosion of teargas shells failed to bring the situation under
control.
