Pakistan denies reports of Anees' deportation
Monday, December 16 2002 10:36 Hrs (IST)

Islamabad: Pakistan on December 15 denied reports that Anees Ibrahim, underworld don and one of the accused in the Mumbai serial blasts, has been deported here from Dubai.

"Neither has Pakistan invited him nor has he been delivered to Pakistani authorities," Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said.

The minister alleged that India was floating the story of his deportation to Pakistan after its failure to get him extradited.

United Arab Emirates (UAE) daily 'Khaleez Times', quoting security sources, reported on December 14 that 42-year-old Anees, younger brother of Dawood Ibrahim, had been deported to Pakistan.
