Jammu: An accidental fire in an Army tank on December 16 night near Shakti Nagar area here has been brought under control, police said on December 17.

Meanwhile, traffic remains disrupted on Jammu-Akhnoor road following some 13 explosions in the tank, they said adding there was no casualty or damage to property.

The tank, which was coming along with other tanks and ammunition trucks, was on its way to Akhanoor, caught sudden fire after its diesel tank burst.

Army and police cordoned off the area and removed all other ammunition trucks and tanks to safer places from the scene of fire, police said.

Intelligence head quarters, office of Accountant General and the residence of the state director general of police (DGP) were just 200 metres from the site of the accident, they said.
