Imphal: Unidentified miscreants set ablaze a portion of the state Industries Department office in the wee hours of December 18 damaging property and important documents, official sources said.

The desperadoes sneaked into the industry office complex at Lamphelpat at around 01:40 hours (IST) on December 18 and burnt down its Western block before escaping under the cover of darkness, they said.

Several important files, documents and office property were damaged in the fire which was later brought under control, sources said, adding Lamphel police has registered a case in this connection.

Identity of the assailants was yet to be ascertained, they said, adding that investigations to find out the culprits had begun.
