New Delhi: The arrest of Polaris Software Labs Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Arun
Jain in Indonesia over a commercial dispute had its echo in the Lok Sabha on
December 18 with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members seeking government-
intervention to ensure his release.
Raising the issue during the Zero Hour, Shivraj Singh Chauhan (BJP) said Jain had
been arrested on 'false' charges and that he being an Indian national, the prestige
of the country was involved.
Demanding his immediate release, Singh, supported by other BJP members, recalled
that then chairman of Union Carbide Corporation, who was charged in the Bhopal gas
tragedy case, could not be arrested in the United States.
