Diphu (Assam): Militants attacked a police outpost and abducted three persons and
set ablaze their truck in separate incidents in Central Assam's Karbi Anglong
district late on December 19.
Police said a group of about 11 Dima Halong Daogah (DHD) extremists attacked Dilai
police outpost under Bokajan police station from an opposite forest raining bullets
and damaging its walls and shattering glass windowpanes.
Police also retaliated, forcing the insurgents to retract and flee, sources said
adding that no casualty was reported from either side.
Police recovered two magazines of AK-47 rifles, a Pakistan-make sealed magazine of
AK-47 with 36 rounds of ammunition, 39 rounds of empty cases one round of 7.622 MM
SLR, 20 rounds of live cartridge 12 rounds of empty cartridges.
In another incident, militants of the United Peoples Democratic Solidarity (UPDS)
abducted three employees of the Agricultural Engineering Department from a truck,
which they set on fire at Katrijangaon under Diphu police station.
The militants first abducted six employees but released three of them before
escaping with the rest, sources said, adding a search operation was on to rescue
them.
