Govt to appoint new judge to head Tehelka probe
Friday, December 20 2002 17:34 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Government on December 20 announced in the Lok Sabha that it planned to continue the probe into Tehelka expose and would appoint a new judge to head the Commission within a fortnight.

The announcement was made by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pramod Mahajan shortly before the winter session of Parliament was adjourned sine die.

Mahajan apologised to the House on behalf of the Law and Justice Minister K Jana Krishnamurthy saying he was taken ill yesterday (Dec 19) and hospitalised and, therefore, could not make the statement as had been assured earlier.

The Parliamentary Affairs Minister, who had a telephonic talk with Krishnamurthy, said, "Government's intention is to continue with the inquiry commission on Tehelka expose. Government in the next fortnight will appoint a new judge to continue the probe."
