New Delhi: President A P J Abdul Kalam and Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee spent a pleasant hour at the Rashtrapati Bhavan as they were treated to Christmas carols by leading schools of Delhi on December 20 evening.

The children from St Thomas School rendered a carol in Nepali titled ‘Gothagiko’ as also several English songs along with students from Springdales, Mount Carmel, Mater Dei, Presentation Convent, St Xaviers and St Johns Boys Home.

Felicitating the children, Kalam wished them a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. He also hosted tea for them.

The programme began with a welcome prayer by Reverend Enosdas Pradhan of the Church of North India with a message of peace and harmony by Most Reverend Vincent Concessao.

The Archbishop of Delhi Reverend Walter David offered prayer and benediction.

Among those who attended the function were former Maharastra Governor P C Alexander, Congress Members of Parliament (MPs) Margaret Alva and Oscar Fernandes.
