Cong mulls strategies for state polls early next year

New Delhi: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) on election strategies discussed the tactics to be adopted by the party in the states going to polls early next year, on December 21.

"This is only a routine meeting to discuss party strategy in the three North-Eastern states- Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland," Mani Shanker Aiyar, AICC secretary incharge of the three states, told reporters.

Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Manmohan Singh, deputy leader of Opposition Shivraj Patil, political secretaries to party chief Sonia Gandhi Ambika Soni and Ahmed Patel, party treasurer Moti Lal Vora, senior party leader Salman Khurshid and Nagaland Chief Minister S C Jamir were among those who attended the meeting.

The leaders had met yesterday to finalise the party’s strategy in Himachal Pradesh, which is also going to polls next year.
