Bangalore: Bleary-eyed relatives thronged the special railway counter in Bangalore
and some broke down as they made anxious enquiries about the fate of their kith and
kin travelling on Bangalore-bound train from Hyderabad, which derailed in Andhra
Pradesh in the early hours of December 21.
It was a heart-rending sight at the Bangalore city railway station as the near and
dear ones of the passengers rushed to the counter in the early morning chill,
looking for any bit of information that would give them some solace.
The special enquiry counter set up to furnish details about the mishap was flooded
with non-stop enquiries as soon as the news about the accident spread, railway
officials said.
Emotionally charged relatives were assisted by the commercial and traffic inspectors
manning the counter, who patiently answered all their queries, despite facing the
wrath by some of them, senior divisional commercial manager, S P Shastri said.
Vijay Aggarwal, additional divisional railway manager, who was travelling by the
jinxed train, lent a helping hand in the rescue operations, he said.
Meanwhile, the special train carrying 200 persons including the kith and kin of the
victims and of the injured passengers which left Bangalore on December 21 morning to
the accident spot will be arriving by late afternoon, railway sources said.
