'India must give a befitting reply to Pakistan'
Saturday, December 21 2002 22:31 Hrs (IST)

Indore: Vice-president Bhairon Singh Shekhawat on December 21 said India should give a "befitting reply" to Pakistan in view of its involvement in various terrorist attacks including those on Parliament, Jammu and Kashmir, Akshardham and Raghunath temples.

"Bharat ko taiyar hokar ek bar Pakistan ko mooh-tod jawan dena hoga ki yeh atankwad nahin chalega" (India will have to give a befitting reply to Pakistan to make it understand that there is no place for terrorism in India), Shekhawat said, addressing a function here on the occasion of dedicating newly renovated Hemu Kalani three-way near collectorate.

Shekhawat said the problem with Pakistan is that no ruler in that country will survive on its post until and unless it adopts an anti-India stance and directly blamed it for the recent terrorists attacks in the country.

Even the people in Pakistan will not allow any ruler to survive on the post if he or she does not engage in India-bashing and cited the example of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and others in this regard.

Bhutto was hanged to death because he could not prevent the creation of Bangladesh in the 1971 war with India, the vice-president said.

He also alleged that Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf has acquired President's post by undemocratic means and by announcing that within no time he will ensure Pakistan's rule over Kashmir, but since he is unable to do so Musharraf is afraid whether he too would not meet the same fare as his predecessors.
