Polaris chief likely to leave Jakarta tomorrow
Sunday, December 22 2002 18:07 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Polaris Software Labs Chairman Arun Jain and his colleague Rajiv Malhotra may leave Jakarta tomorrow night (Dec 23) after they get back their passports earlier in the day.

Jain, who along with Malhotra was detained in Jakarta for over a week following a commercial dispute with Bank Artha Graha, was released on December 20 after a diplomatic intervention.

Despite his release, Jain's passport has not been restored leaving a cloud of uncertainty over the date of his return to India.

IT and Communications Minister Pramod Mahajan had earlier said he had talked to Jain who in turn had expressed hope that Polaris would be able to resolve the dispute with the Indonesian Bank by December 23 or 24.

The Minister had also said the Indian Embassy had assured the Indonesian authorities that it would not cause any obstruction in the investigations.
