New Delhi: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed on December 22
strongly condemned the killing of three children by militants in Surankote and
termed it as a blatant attempt by militants to derail his government's 'healing
touch' programme.
Describing the killing as brutal and inhuman, Sayeed said such heinous crime being
resorted to by militants was a sign of their frustrations.
"Such elements are opposed to restoration of peace in the state and healing touch
process initiated by my government," Sayeed said and added that his programme of
providing relief to the people would continue unhindered.
The Chief Minister said his government had a firm commitment "not to allow anyone
derail the peace process and work for lasting peace".
Militants raided a village in Poonch district of Jammu region on the night of
December 21 killing three children aged between four and 12 besides leaving two
others injured.
Deputy Chief Minister Mangat Ram Sharma also condemned the barbaric act.
