'Britain to face difficult, dangerous problems'
London: In a gloomy New Year message, British Prime Minister Tony Blair on January 1 said Britain is going to face "difficult and dangerous" problems in 2003, including a US-led war on Iraq, possible terror attacks at home and an economic downturn.
Pakistan joins UNSC as non-permanent member
United Nations: Pakistan, along with Angola, Germany, Spain and Chile on January 1 joined the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) as non-permanent member for a two-year term ending December 31, 2004.
'Iraq, N Korea crisis can be solved peacefully'
Washington: Ringing in the New Year with a conciliatory message, United States President George W Bush voiced the hope that the crisis with North Korea and Iraq could be resolved peacefully, but added that Saddam Hussein had not "heard the message".
