Washington: India has said it has "convinced" the United States (US) that holding a
dialogue with Islamabad will be a futile exercise while Pakistan-backed cross-border
terrorism continues.
In their position, the US would like to believe that dialogue is possible but "We
have convinced them that from our point of view, it will be an exercise in futility
to have a dialogue while terrorism is still going on," Indian Ambassador to the US,
Lalit Mansingh, said.
He stressed there would be no dialogue with Pakistan unless cross-border terrorism
stops and Pakistan responds to the list of terrorists India has handed over to it.
Mansingh described India's interaction with the US state department and Pentagon
as "excellent".
