Islamabad: Maintaining that the new Pakistan government would do all it could to
normalise relations with India, Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Muhammad Kasuri
has said Pakistan would continue to raise Kashmir issue in all international fora.
Pakistan will not miss any opportunity to raise the Kashmir issue at any forum,
Kasuri told BBC on January 3.
He said durable peace in the region was not possible unless the Kashmir issue was
resolved. "We shall remind the international community that durable peace is only
possible when a just solution to the issue is sought."
On the membership of the UN Security Council, Kasuri said it is a great honour for
Pakistan. Many other countries were also in the run for the membership along with
Pakistan.
He said whenever an honour comes, it comes with certain
responsibilities.
"We generally remind the international community that the Security Council's
resolutions on Kashmir have still not been implemented," he said.
"We shall try our best to establish peace with India. This is only possible when a
just solution of Kashmir is found," he said.
Kasuri said Pakistan will apprise the international community on the issue and tell
them that no progress towards peace in the region can be achieved unless full
attention was paid to Kashmir issue.
