Kolkata: Violence broke out in English daily 'The Statesman' on January 3 when a 200- strong group of employees attacked its editor and managing director Ravindra Kumar as well as the general manager (P&A) Anand Sinha and inflicted serious injuries.

Police commissioner S Chakraborty said that seven persons were arrested in connection with the violence.
