3 accused in Khadim kidnap case turn approvers
Monday, January 6 2003 21:06 Hrs (IST)

Kolkata: Three of the accused on January 6 petitioned a court hearing the case relating to the Parthapratim Roy Burman kidnap, allegedly masterminded by underworld don Aftab Ansari, to turn approvers.

The trio filed a petition through the police in the court of sub-divisional judicial magistrate Debabrata Sinha, that they were willing to give "a full, true, disclosure within their knowledge" of the kidnap of the shoe baron from the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass on July 25, 2001.

The three were Babloo Zafar, Noor Ahmed Mollah and Khaliq Mondal.

The judge fixed January 16 for hearing the petition.

Ansari was present in the court as was six of the 27 accused. Eight are absconders in the case.

The police, at the hearing, also served copies of illegible and missing portions of the charge-sheet in the case to Ansari as ordered by the court.

Ansari with alleged links to the Lashkar-e-Toiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed and Harkat-ul-Jehadi, is also the prime accused in case relating to the terrorist attack on the American Centre on January 22, 2002.
