'PM's musings have encouraged Islamic terrorism'
Wednesday, January 8 2003 22:37 Hrs (IST)

Taroda (Maharashtra): Stepping up the attack on Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee's Goa year-end musings on 'hindutva', the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on January 8 said they have "encouraged" Islamic terrorism by not mentioning the threat posed by it.

"The VHP disapproved of the Prime Minister's views on 'hindutva' as he did not mention about Islamic terrorism in the country where innocent Hindus have become victims," VHP leader Praveen Togadia told reporters here, about 80 kms from Nagpur.

"His musings (in Goa) have encouraged Islamic terrorism by not mentioning about it," he said emerging from the three-day Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) conclave, which concluded on January 8.

Togadia, the international general secretary of VHP, said Vajpayee should have talked about Islamic terrorism. "His musings carry weight and had he said about Islamic terrorism, it would have made an impact," the VHP leader added.

He declined to comment on remarks by former RSS chief Rajendra Singh alias Rajju Bhaiya endorsing Vajpayee's Goa musings on 'hindutva' and said it would not be proper for him to do so.

Togadia, who arrived here on January 7 night for the conclave on the third and last day when representatives of frontal organisations were invited, declined to say what transpired at the meeting.

He said the meeting was part of preparations for Akhil Bhartiya Pratinidhi Sabha (general council) of RSS scheduled for March this year.
