New Delhi: Government on January 10 announced the appointment of air marshal Teja Mohan Asthana as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Strategic Forces Command (SFC).
With over 3,000 hours of combat flying to his credit, Asthana will take over the new
post on December 12, an official announcement said.
Air marshal Asthana will report to chairman of Chiefs of Staff Command, presently
held by Naval chief Admiral Madhvendra Singh.
The Strategic Forces Command will be temporarily based in the capital until a
suitable location was found.
The post of Commander-in-Chief of Strategic Forces Command will be a rotatory one
among the three services – Army, Air Force and Navy.
